Kallas Lacks Adequate Experience to Criticize Freedoms in Russia: Zakharova
The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, lacks the experience and knowledge to criticize freedoms in Russia, said Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commenting on the European official's statement that the U.S., while criticizing freedoms in the EU, should look to Russia.
“In my opinion, it is simply indecent to even discuss what Kaja Kallas is saying. I want to ask, who is she to address such global issues? Where is her experience? Where is her life experience? What is the basis that allows her to speak on these topics in this manner? She has nothing behind her except for the shameful history of her ancestors, who sold themselves to any regime at any cost, just to remain in power. She has the shameful record of her current tenure and her absolutely inappropriate statements,” Zakharova stated, responding to Kallas’ remarks.
Earlier, Kallas had accused the U.S. of provocations for criticizing the EU in its national security strategy. She also stated that Washington, while discussing the criticism of freedoms in the European Union, should look “in another direction,” perhaps towards Russia.
