Permissible Weights for Vehicles Traveling in Eurasian Transport Corridors Established
During the meeting of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration of the National Assembly on November 24, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan presented a draft agreement for ratification concerning the permissible weights of vehicles traveling along the roadways of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states.
According to Simonyan, the document establishes the permissible weights, loaded weights with axles, and dimensions of vehicles traveling on the highways of EAEU member countries. Under the agreement, member states must ensure that the dimensions and weights of vehicles, as well as the weight of a single axle or a group of axles, do not exceed the values established by the agreement and national legislation when conducting automobile transportation.
The Committee also discussed, in its second reading, a package of bills proposing amendments to the Law on Automobile Transport. Simonyan clarified that one technical amendment was made after the first reading.
The necessity for the adoption of these bills is linked to the EAEU protocol on a "Systematic Transport Policy", ensuring the phased liberalization of freight transportation in member states during the period from 2016 to 2025.
The discussed bills received a positive conclusion.
