China Issues Strong Protest to Japan Over Taiwan Issue

China's Deputy Foreign Minister Sun Weidong has issued a strong protest to Tokyo regarding recent statements made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takahichi concerning Taiwan. This was announced by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Qiangan during a press conference.

According to Lin, Beijing demands that Japan “deeply reflect on its historical crimes,” cease interference in China's internal affairs, and abandon provocative actions. “Those who play with fire on the Taiwan issue will be consumed by it,” he emphasized.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry claims that Takahichi's statements seriously violate the “One China” principle, contradict the spirit of four political documents signed between China and Japan, as well as the fundamental norms of international relations. Beijing regards these as challenges to China's sovereignty and gross interference in its internal affairs.

“If Japan dares to engage in military intervention in the Taiwan Strait, it will be an act of aggression, and China will respond with decisive force,” Lin Qiangan added.

The latest developments follow Takahichi's statements regarding a potential Chinese attack on Taiwan, which could create a situation threatening Japan's survival, thereby justifying the invocation of collective self-defense rights. Beijing has labeled this stance as “extremely dangerous” and “unacceptable interference.”
