The 'In Our Way' Movement Comments on the Verdict Against Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan
The entire potential of Armenia's law enforcement agencies is currently directed at silencing government critics. This is stated in a statement released by the 'In Our Way' movement, which addresses the verdict issued today against Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, the leader of the Shirak region.
“Today, in Armenia, a judge of Armenian nationality was sentenced to 2 years of illegal imprisonment for criticizing the current government. This is simply disgraceful. The iron mandate is not a hammer, but rather shackles on the hands of the Armenian people,” reads the statement.
It emphasizes that law enforcement bodies in Armenia should focus on their primary duties. It should be noted that Mikayel Ajapahyan has been sentenced to 2 years in prison.
