Israel Will Support Lebanese Government in Efforts to Disarm Hezbollah
Israel is prepared to support the Lebanese government in its efforts to disarm the Shiite movement Hezbollah, announced the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The recent decision made by the Lebanese government to work towards disarming Hezbollah by the end of 2025 is a significant development. In light of this important development, Israel is ready to assist Lebanon in its efforts to disarm Hezbollah and work together towards a safer and more stable future for both countries. If the Lebanese Armed Forces take the necessary steps to disarm Hezbollah, Israel will take reciprocal measures, including a gradual reduction of the presence of the Israel Defense Forces in Lebanon,” the statement reads.
The office pointed out that Israel “highly appreciates the significant steps taken by the Lebanese government. This decision (regarding Hezbollah's disarmament) gives Lebanon the opportunity to restore its sovereignty, rebuild state institutions, the army, and governance systems.”
“Now is the time for Israel and Lebanon to move forward in the spirit of cooperation, focusing on the common goal of disarming Hezbollah and promoting stability and prosperity in both countries,” concluded the office of the Israeli Prime Minister.
