Armenia is De Facto Involved in the War Against Iran, Jeffrey Sachs
American economist and Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs has commented on the "Zangezur Corridor," referring to Armenia's willingness to cede control of its border with Iran to NATO.
"Armenia is essentially telling the U.S., 'Of course, take this land that borders Iran. We know you are at war with Iran. We understand that your ally Israel is at war with Iran. We know that Azerbaijan is allied with Israel.' This seems to be a direct path to drawing Armenia into the conflict.
Honestly, I do not understand what the political leadership of Armenia is thinking, but this is an extremely provocative and dangerous move. From a geopolitical standpoint, it signifies Armenia's de facto involvement in the war against Iran being waged by Israel. The only question remaining is whether Armenia truly desires this," Sachs concluded.
