There Will Be People Who Understand Accounting Better Than Us: Papoyan
During a meeting with entrepreneurs at the Ministry of Economy, Minister Gevorg Papoyan emphasized, "You must realize that you are now at the Ministry of Economy. Dear entrepreneurs, you have not come to another institution; let me remind you, this is the Ministry of Economy. We have come to discuss and understand what steps need to be taken so that you also understand that the essence of the turnover tax is not to pay less tax but to pay a clear tax. We are leading everything towards simplification," said the minister.
Entrepreneurs are struggling to accept the new law on turnover tax. One entrepreneur voiced, "People, it’s very clear; we can see that we have a minister, but we do not have a ministry. Please suspend this project, let's think of alternatives and seek a common agreement. We need to consider everyone here, not just yourselves," remarked the entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurs also noted that they have realized through simple calculations that they are suffering more than benefiting. After hearing similar statements, the minister responded, "Let’s agree that the opponents should stay here and protest. I have great respect for those who are business-minded and clearly understand what we need to discuss at this meeting. There is no need to enter other areas; the purpose of our discussion is not to teach you accounting, especially since there are surely individuals here who know accounting better than us. Do not bring the issue into another domain," concluded the minister.
