Urgent Rearmament of Europe, Says European Commission President
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, made a statement in London following an extraordinary summit on Ukraine. She called for the urgent rearmament of Europe. Her remarks were reported by Sky News.
“We urgently need to rearm Europe,” she said. She indicated that measures aimed at accelerating the militarization of the continent would be discussed at the summit in Brussels on March 6. According to her, there could also be changes in fiscal policy.
“All Europeans need to invest in defense and ensure a breakthrough in the defense industry,” the Commission president added.
It is noteworthy that a summit on Ukraine was held in London on March 2, where representatives from almost all European countries gathered. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss further steps to strengthen Kyiv’s positions, exert pressure on Russia, and establish supplies to Ukraine.
