Kostanyan States That Armenia's Participation in COP-29 Depends on Negotiation Dynamics

The participation of Armenia in COP-29, taking place in Baku, depends on the overall dynamics of negotiations. This statement was made by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Vahan Kostanyan, during a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly.

“The question of our participation depends on the overall dynamics of negotiations; we do not have a decision yet. We will appropriately inform when we make decisions regarding participation or non-participation in COP-29,” stated Kostanyan.

In December 2023, Armenia expressed its support for Azerbaijan's bid to host the event as a gesture of goodwill and withdrew its own candidacy. Azerbaijan, on the other hand, supported Armenia's candidacy for the Eastern European Group's Bureau membership at COP.

In June, the Prime Minister's press secretary, addressing discussions about Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's possible visit to Baku and participation in COP-29, stated that such a visit is not planned in the Prime Minister's work agenda.
