Iran Calls on Trump to Adopt New Policy
Iran is urging newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump to adopt a new policy towards the country. Prior to the November 5 presidential election, U.S. law enforcement has charged an Iranian citizen in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate candidate Trump.
Iran's Vice President for Strategic Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif has called on Trump to reconsider the "maximum pressure" policy that he implemented during his first term against the Islamic Republic. "Trump must show that he is not following the mistaken policies of the past," Zarif told reporters.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has labeled the American accusations as "completely unfounded."
