Female Official from Yerevan Municipality Arrested for Bribery Detained
A female official from the Yerevan municipality, arrested yesterday in a corruption case, has been detained for two months. The Anti-Corruption Court has approved the request of the investigator to select detention as a measure of restraint against Knarik Petrosyan, the chief specialist in the second division of urban planning documentation at the Architecture and Urban Development Department of the Yerevan municipality. This information was provided to ‘Pastinfo’ by the spokesperson for the Anti-Corruption Court, Mary Gevorgyan.
Earlier, the media reported that another corruption scandal was brewing within the municipality. Law enforcement agencies conducted searches at the Architecture and Urban Development Department of the Yerevan municipality as part of a criminal proceeding being investigated by the HKK. Following the searches, arrests were made. A total of five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including Knarik Petrosyan. She has been charged with accepting bribes.
Requests for detention as a measure of restraint have been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court for three of the arrested individuals, with two of these requests being granted. Specifically, Knarik Petrosyan and Shahen Petrosyan, who worked as an architect at ‘ArchiTulsa’ LLC and previously served as the chief specialist of the urban planning and land use department of the Shengavit administrative district in Yerevan, have been detained.
It was previously reported that following the searches in the Yerevan municipality, there were arrests made. Law enforcement officials conducted searches at the Architecture and Urban Development Department of the Yerevan municipality and announced that charges of accepting bribes were brought against one of the municipality officials.
