Photos and Posts Claiming Shengavit Court No Longer Subordinate to Armenia Are False
Criminologist Tigran Petrosyan published a photo on his Facebook page claiming it was that of the Shengavit administrative district court in Yerevan, dated September 1, 2023.
In response to these circulating reports online, the press service of the Judicial Council released a clarification: “We inform you that the post and photos shared by Facebook user Tigran Petrosyan, which have also appeared in the press, stating that ‘the Shengavit court no longer complies with Armenia; the flag of Venezuela or Colombia is respected’ are not true. The national flag of the Republic of Armenia is hoisted and continues to fly at the Shengavit seat of the criminal court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan, as shown in the attached photographs.”
The press service further confirmed the falsity of the photos shared by Petrosyan by pointing out the tall buildings depicted next to the court, which have never existed in the vicinity of the Shengavit seat.
“We ask the public to refrain from spreading misleading information,” they concluded.
