The Case of 3 Abducted Students and Vagif Khachatryan is Under the Spotlight of the ICRC
The situation regarding the three students abducted by Azerbaijan along the Lachin Corridor is currently in the spotlight of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This was stated by Zara Amatuni, head of the communication programs of the ICRC delegation in Armenia, during a conversation with journalists.
“We can discuss this in more detail later, but the issue is under our attention,” Amatuni noted.
When referencing the case of Vagif Khachatryan, who was abducted on July 29, Amatuni stated that this matter is also a priority for them. “We have met several times; the latest meeting was on August 14,” she reported.
According to Amatuni, there is currently no progress regarding the transfer of the body of Helen Dadayan, a 21-year-old who died in a tragic car accident on the Gjumri-Yerevan road. She noted that discussions can take place later, but work in this direction continues.
It should be reminded that on July 29, while being transferred from Artsakh to Armenia for emergency medical aid through the mediation and escort of the ICRC, Vagif Khachatryan was abducted by representatives of Azerbaijan's border service.
On August 28, while being transferred from Artsakh to Armenia with the escort of peacekeeping forces, Azerbaijani forces abducted three students: Alen Sargsyan, Vahe Hovsepyan, and Levon Grigoryan, who were coming to study in Armenia.
Helen Dadayan, who perished in the tragic accident on August 14, is also originally from the village of Chartar in Artsakh. The Azerbaijani side has not allowed the transfer of her body back to Artsakh; currently, her remains are in the morgue of Goris.
