Wagner Mercenaries Returning to Russia: The Reason Revealed
The Wagner forces are implementing the first phase of their withdrawal from Belarus, transferring groups of 500-600 individuals to Krasnodar Krai, Voronezh, and Rostov regions. The second phase is set to begin after August 13, according to analysis from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts cite insiders who suggest that Wagner militants may leave Belarus because President Lukashenko has refused to finance them after learning that Russia would not pay the Wagner fighters as he apparently expected.
Additionally, the insider source claimed that a small group of Wagner instructors would remain in Belarus to train Belarusian forces.
Moreover, it has been reported that Wagner forces, who were not deployed to Libya, have taken a 'hasty' vacation back to Russia, and the Wagner command has urged its fighters to maintain contact, as new orders could come at any time.
