State of Emergency May Be Declared in France
Olivier Klein, the delegate of the Minister of Housing Policy in France, announced on BFM television that a state of emergency could be declared in the country due to disturbances.
“Today, all options for responding to the disturbances are on the table. We need to get out of this situation, and if a state of emergency is an effective measure, then it will be implemented,” Klein stated.
It is noteworthy that on the morning of June 27, police officers shot a 17-year-old teenager during a check in Nantes, a suburb located west of Paris, who allegedly refused to comply with their demands. Following this incident, disturbances have erupted in several cities across France and have been ongoing for several days. Special police units have been deployed in various cities, while helicopters and armored vehicles have been put into action.
