Photos: Collapse at the Haghpat Monastery Complex

This afternoon, at 12:30, the Lori regional crisis management center received information that a tower of the Haghpat monastery complex partially collapsed, with stones displaced by the forces of nature onto the road. Rescue assistance was needed.

A firefighting squad from the Ministry of Internal Affairs' regional rescue department was dispatched to the scene.

It was ascertained that approximately 12 square meters of one of the wall towers (20 sq. m.) had collapsed, and there is a danger of further collapse of the remaining structure. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Rescue teams have cordoned off the area.
