Armenia Has No Territorial Demands Against Azerbaijan: Simonian to Turkish Journalists
The Republic of Armenia has no territorial demands against Azerbaijan, and we are ready and interested in signing a peace treaty. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian, during a briefing with journalists in Turkey, noting that he wants to make a few remarks regarding Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
“We see no issues in terms of opening the region for trade. Goods and people can move freely from Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan, as well as to Turkey, of course, considering the legislation and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia,” said the Speaker.
Addressing the presence of troops at the border, Simonian stated, “We have always proposed and continue to propose that Azerbaijan pull back all troops present at the border in a mirrored fashion. I believe that establishing peace in this region is impossible without Turkey, and we are hopeful that Turkey will take active steps towards establishing peace in this region.”
