EU Threatens Sanctions Against Central Asian Countries
The European Union may impose sanctions on Central Asian countries if they are found to be supporting Russia. This information was reported by the "Telegraph" newspaper, citing relevant documents.
"European capitals are discussing the option of imposing trade sanctions on countries that help Moscow evade punitive measures," the publication states.
According to the newspaper, EU representatives noted that the volume of dual-use technology goods supplied to Central Asian states has increased. Such products can be used for both public purposes and the creation of weapons. This includes items like washing machines and used cars. It is presumed that these goods are being imported in parallel to Russia from these Asian countries. The article clarifies that Brussels fears these technologies could end up in Russia.
