Finnish President Signs Legislation for NATO Membership

The President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, has signed the legislation regarding the country's membership in NATO. This information has been reported by kommersant.ru.

The head of state has signed the government's proposal for the ratification and entry into force of the North Atlantic Treaty, as well as the agreement on the status of the North Atlantic Alliance, national representatives, and international personnel.

Finland's parliament approved the country's accession to NATO on March 1, 2023. To join the alliance, the consent of all 30 NATO countries is required. On March 27, the Hungarian parliament will vote on Finland's application to join the alliance, while on March 17, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the decision to start the ratification of Finland's NATO membership.
