Australia Imposes New Sanctions Against Iran

The Australian government has announced a new package of sanctions against 27 Iranian nationals and 15 organizations. Officials in Canberra state that the individuals and entities targeted by the sanctions are linked to Russia's military-industrial complex.

According to the department's data, 13 individuals and one organization have been added to the blacklist, allegedly "linked to the Russian military-industrial complex." As reported by Armenpress, Australia’s Minister of Home Affairs communicated this information to TASS today.

“Australia is imposing additional sanctions on Iranian citizens and one organization involved in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles and their supply to Russia. These drones are being used to strike targets in Ukraine,” the Minister mentioned.

It was further specified that the heads of Paravar Pars and Qods Aviation Industries, as well as the Safiran Airport Services, which, according to the Australian government, sends Iranian drones to the Russian Federation, are now under restrictive measures. Additionally, the Australian Department of Home Affairs announced that separate sanctions would be imposed on another 14 individuals and 14 organizations, which Canberra believes are connected to numerous human rights violations in Iran. Among those included on the blacklist are officials, law enforcement officers, and staff from judicial and correctional systems.

The entities listed include organizations related to the funding of police and security forces. Entry into the country for those mentioned in the sanctions list will be prohibited, and their bank accounts will be frozen if discovered. Following the protests in Iran, Australia has included dozens of individuals and legal entities in the sanctions list, including members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Additionally, under anti-Russian sanctions, the companies Shahed Aviation Industries, Paravar Pars, and Qods Aviation Industries, which produce unmanned aerial vehicles and their components, have also been targeted.
