Pope Francis: 'I May Soon Resign if I Feel My Health Prevents Me From Serving'
Pope Francis has announced that he may soon resign, stating he will do so if he feels his health does not allow him to serve as he should, according to BBC reports. He made this statement at the end of his trip to Canada.
The 85-year-old pontiff emphasized that he intends to continue fulfilling his duties for the time being, and that 'God will tell him when to resign.' He added, 'The change of the Pope is not a disaster; it is not a taboo. The door is open for resignation. It is a normal option, but up to now, I have not knocked on that door.'
In recent months, Pope Francis has been suffering from knee problems, which have affected his mobility. He spent much of his visit to Canada in a wheelchair.
