Opening of the 'Zangezur Corridor' Will Benefit Not Only Azerbaijan and Armenia, Bayramov
The opening of the 'Zangezur Corridor' will benefit not only Azerbaijan and Armenia but also other countries in the region, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated during a diplomatic conference in Antalya, as reported by Sputnik Azerbaijan. He asserted that Russia is also interested in the opening of the 'Zangezur Corridor.'
According to Bayramov, Georgia can also benefit from the 'corridor' since there is currently no railway communication between Georgia and Iran, and the 'Zangezur Corridor' will facilitate railway connectivity between these countries.
Bayramov further stated that Azerbaijan has begun to unblock infrastructure within its territory. “Azerbaijan has proposed to start the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border; however, unfortunately, we do not see the same efforts from Armenia,” he mentioned, adding that “Azerbaijan keeps the Goris-Kapan road open for Armenians.”
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister also announced that Azerbaijan has allowed Russian gas to be transported to Armenia through Azerbaijan due to difficulties that arose on Georgian territory.
Bayramov also touched upon the normalization process of Armenian-Turkish relations, emphasizing Azerbaijan's stance. “Azerbaijan supports the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia,” he stated.
