Levon Ter-Petrosyan Issues Statement
The first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, has written:
"As the domestic political situation escalates, Armenia's position in the already difficult negotiations concerning Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Azerbaijani relations weakens. In this regard, the establishment of a commission to investigate the 44-day war not only does not contribute to the de-escalation of the internal political climate but, on the contrary, exacerbates it, serving primarily the interests of our adversaries."
"Therefore, I would call for a temporary cessation of the activities of that commission and address the circumstances of the 44-day war in a more favorable and calm environment."
