Will Mikhail Saakashvili Be Granted Clemency? Georgian President Comments
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has once again stated that she will not grant clemency to former state leader Mikhail Saakashvili, as she believes it would increase polarization within society.
“I usually keep my word, and I think there is no one who could say otherwise. I am deeply convinced that such a step will lead to polarization rather than depolarization. Saakashvili's return was a step towards polarization, and I will do nothing that brings about polarization,” the president said.
Earlier, Zourabichvili had declared that she would never grant clemency to Mikhail Saakashvili.
