Video: Under What Circumstances Will Armen Sarkissian's Resignation Be Accepted? Alen Simonian's Statement

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, announced at the beginning of the session that the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, has submitted his resignation. He then clarified the procedure.

“According to Article 147, Section 2 of the Constitutional Law on the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, if the relevant official withdraws their resignation request in writing within one week after the announcement of the resignation, the Chairman of the National Assembly will make a statement regarding this. If the resignation request is not withdrawn, a protocol will be prepared regarding the cessation of the official's powers, which will be signed and published by the Speaker of the National Assembly. From the moment of publication of the protocol, the resignation is considered accepted,” stated Alen Simonian.
