Under Certain Scenarios, Ukraine Could Be Divided: Political Scientist
Ukrainians are sacrificing their own country by entering geopolitical games, where they are not players but rather objects. This was stated by political scientist Stepan Danielyan on his Facebook page.
‘At this moment, it seems unlikely, but under certain scenarios, Ukraine could be divided into parts. If Russia recognizes Donbas, similar to Abkhazia and South Ossetia, it is not excluded that the US would enter Western Ukraine, alongside Poland and Romania. Both Poland and Romania have territorial claims towards Ukraine.’
‘What is interesting is that if the post-World War II world order is contested, then naturally, the current borders of Ukraine, established as a result of it, should also be challenged. It follows that Western Ukraine, Bukovina, and Uzhhorod should regain their pre-war status.’
‘No matter how strange it may seem, this is beneficial for both Russia and the US, as well as Ukraine's western neighbors. When the interests of a country are subordinated to the intrigues of outside players, when hope is placed in external forces, and when one enters the water without knowing how to swim, then one should not complain about the results. Ukrainians are sacrificing their country by engaging in geopolitical games, where they are not players, but objects.’
