U.S. State Department Welcomes Return of 10 Armenian Prisoners of War by Azerbaijan
The United States welcomes the release of 10 Armenian servicemen following negotiations between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels this week. This announcement was made on Sunday by Ned Price, the spokesperson for the State Department, via his Twitter account, as reported by TASS.
“We welcome the December 19 release of 10 detained [servicemen] by Azerbaijan, with support from the EU,” he wrote. “We call for the full and rapid release of all remaining detainees,” Price added.
On Sunday, 10 prisoners of war were repatriated from Azerbaijan, facilitated by the mediation of the European Council, who had been captured during clashes at the border on November 16.
