Lukashenko Threatens to Halt Gas Transit
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has announced that his country may suspend gas transit to Europe if Western sanctions place Minsk under a state of emergency and there are no alternative ways to respond.
“If the sanctions imposed by them, or those that may be imposed in the future, put us under a state of emergency, and we have no other means to respond to their sanctions, we will resort to this harsh measure,” Lukashenko stated in an interview with Turkish TRT, commenting on the possibility of blocking gas transit.
