Former Deputy Defense Minister: 'Hands Have Been Washed of Artsakh, Tomorrow Armenia Will Surrender to Turkey and Azerbaijan'
It is premature to discuss the commencement of demarcation and delineation works between Armenia and Azerbaijan until there is an international agreement on how the further discussions regarding the status of Artsakh will be organized, including the principles and objectives of those discussions. This opinion was expressed by the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia and member of the Republican Party, Artak Zakaryan, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
“We need to fully understand the Artsakh issue with the complete restoration of the OSCE Minsk Group format; appropriate clarifications and statements should be made in this direction before moving on to the works of demarcation and delineation,” he said. “Proceeding to delineation without those clarifications means pouring water into Azerbaijan's mill.”
According to Zakaryan, as a result of the authorities' pursued policies, Armenia currently finds itself in a vulnerable situation. If this continues, Armenia will be unable to defend its interests, ensure the safety of its citizens, and maintain the integrity of its territories.
The former deputy minister believes that Prime Minister Pashinyan's cabinet has already washed its hands of Artsakh, which, according to him, means that tomorrow Armenia will surrender to Turkey and Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that on November 18, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the Russian Ministry of Defense had presented proposals regarding the preparatory phase of demarcation and delineation. Pashinyan stated that these proposals are acceptable to us.
