The Armenia Alliance Issues Statement
The Armenia Alliance has issued a statement, which in particular states:
“Dear compatriots, we are closely and anxiously monitoring the information coming from the southeastern borders of Armenia, which is contradictory and highly concerning. There are reports that the enemy has made certain advances towards the southeastern border, and there have been exchanges of fire. The Ministry of Defense's statements are unclear as to what the actual situation is in that area.
The fragmented and non-operational response of the incompetent authorities of the Republic of Armenia regarding these incidents forces Armenian citizens to resort to enemy information sources. Therefore, we demand that the relevant state bodies provide complete and objective information and respond to a number of questions.
In particular, we urge them to clarify what the operational situation is in the mentioned area. They should also explain how it happened that the enemy established an unimpeded outpost in the community of Chakatain in Syunik province and is now carrying out engineering works there. Is there a plan of action to ensure that there are no Azerbaijani customs checkpoints in that area and that our several communities do not find themselves effectively besieged, cut off from strategically important roads?
Why is there no explanation from those who talk about a “new era of peace,” but in fact pose a threat to the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia regarding the created situation? Are they waiting for processes that are undesirable for us to occur, for us to face the facts, and only then to issue yet another demagogic explanation?
The behavior of the Azerbaijanis shows that illegal and actual border demarcation is taking place—hidden from the Armenian people, against the state interests of the Republic of Armenia, in the context of the criminal inaction or collusion of the authorities of Armenia.”
