‘One of the attendees slapped the newly appointed governor,’ says Iran expert
Iranian expert Tigran Davoyan wrote on his Facebook page: “A slap to the new governor of Azerbaijan. Today, during the introduction of the new governor in the city of Tabriz, one of the attendees slapped him. The newly appointed governor Abedini Khoram maintained his composure, continued his speech, and stated that he forgives the assailant. The Tabriz prosecutor has announced that the incident will be investigated.
Apparently, the assailant is a colonel; the new governor is a general of the Revolutionary Guard and has previously served as the commander of military forces in the same province. Several Turkish-speaking residents of Azerbaijan had previously criticized the Ministry of Internal Affairs' decision regarding this appointment. The news was reported by Iran's official news agency IRNA.”
