Hraparak newspaper writes: “The law does not require all defendants to be detained, yet our investigative prosecutors exclusively choose detention as a preventive measure over alternatives such as not leaving the country, bail, or guarantees from the community. This is particularly true when it comes to opponents of their beloved authorities.

Detaining the respected doctor and PhD holder, Armen Charchyan, the director of Izmirlian Medical Center, is at least inhumane and illegal. The entire process of the criminal case against him is a chain of violations involving dozens of people who will one day have to answer for their actions.

Currently, his health condition has sharply deteriorated, with heart issues and severe diabetes. How immoral must a person and system be to perpetrate such a vendetta and torture a human being?”
