Gunshots in Yerevan: Police Disarm Heavily Armed Citizen
An extraordinary incident has occurred in Yerevan. Around 11:15 AM, the Erevan police department received reports of gunfire near 8/16 Artsakh Street.
According to shamshyan.com, the first deputy chief of the police of Armenia, Aram Hovhannisyan, and the chief of Yerevan police, Sevan Kocharyan, arrived at the scene.
Police negotiations were conducted with a citizen who was heavily armed. After some time, the operational deputy chief of the Erevan police, V. Khachatryan, and the head of the criminal investigation department, A. Ananyan, bravely risked their lives and demonstrated high professionalism by managing to disarm the citizen, subsequently taking him into custody at the Erevan police department.
At the scene, an automatic weapon, “grenades,” a hunting rifle, ammunition, and other weapons and munitions were discovered.
A team from the investigative division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia for the administrative districts of Erevan and Nubarashen has also arrived at the scene. Investigative materials are being prepared regarding the incident.
The police and the investigative division are working to determine the identity of the citizen. According to G. Shamshyan, his name is Armen.
