Valentina Matviyenko Discusses Early Elections in Armenia
The Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko, during a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, in the framework of the ongoing spring session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS in St. Petersburg, expressed hope that the early parliamentary elections scheduled for June 20 in Armenia will be conducted openly and democratically.
Emphasizing that Armenia is on the brink of a significant political event—the early parliamentary elections—Matviyenko stated, “We hope that, despite all the difficulties, the elections will be held in an open and democratic manner, allowing for the stabilization of the social situation in Armenia.”
She also highlighted that Armenia is a fraternal country and ally for Russia. “Our relations are developing very steadily, despite everything that is happening,” the Chairwoman of the Federation Council added.
