Pashinyan Announced That Elections Will Be Held Under a New Electoral Code
The new Electoral Code was not part of any agreements, but I have posed questions to our partners in all discussions regarding their opinions on the electoral system—whether it should be rating-based or not. This was stated by Nikol Pashinyan in parliament.
“During our conversations, we noted that both the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) and the Luys Alliance (LHK) leave this issue to the discretion of the parliamentary majority. This means they have no issues with how it will be implemented. Following this, the parliamentary majority, after discussions with extra-parliamentary forces and representatives of civil society, and considering its previously assumed commitments, has decided that we should proceed with simple amendments to the Electoral Code, and the elections will be conducted using a proportional electoral system without a rating list,” he said.
