The Presidential Administration Has Released a Statement
Considering that on March 13, the parliamentary factions of "My Step" and "Bright Armenia" accepted the invitation to the meeting at the President's residence, while the "Prosperous Armenia" parliamentary faction and the Homeland Salvation Movement have proposed their agenda and conditions for the meeting, the format of a roundtable meeting has become unfeasible at this time. This was stated in a declaration by the Presidential Administration.
“Given that on March 13, the parliamentary factions invited to the meeting of the President accepted the invitation, while the 'Prosperous Armenia' parliamentary faction and the Homeland Salvation Movement proposed their agenda and conditions for the meeting, the format of a roundtable meeting has become unfeasible,” the statement underlines.
President Armen Sarkissian will continue his efforts and is prepared to have separate meetings with both the invitees and representatives from the factions not included in the National Assembly, along with various extra-parliamentary political forces.
These meetings will provide an opportunity to hear everyone's opinions once again, clarify positions more distinctly, and based on that, form a working agenda. The President reaffirms his conviction that the only way to resolve disagreements is through negotiations and dialogue, and everything must be done to keep the country free from shocks,” the statement emphasizes.
