Increase the Age Limit for Contract Military Service to 63 Years Old: LHK
The 'Enlightened Armenia' faction in the National Assembly has introduced a draft law proposing to raise the age limit for contract military service to 63 years old.
The draft law on amendments to the Republic of Armenia’s Law on 'Military Service and the Status of a Serviceman' has been published on the official website of the parliament.
The necessity of adopting the draft is justified by the fact that servicemen who have reached the age limit often leave their jobs and go abroad to work, while they have the desire and capability to continue their service in the Armed Forces or other military units. The same applies to citizens whose age does not allow them to be engaged in work in the Armed Forces or other military units under current laws, while they are able to undergo health examinations and pass medical assessments to serve in the Armed Forces or other military units.
Accordingly, the proposed draft discussed in the National Assembly suggests raising the age limit for entering contract military service in the Armed Forces and other military units (up to 63) and increasing the age limit for remaining in contract military service (up to 63).
