Forensic Examination of 2996 Deceased Soldiers Underway, Says Alina Nikoghosyan
The forensic service of the Ministry of Health of Armenia has currently conducted forensic examinations on the bodies of 2996 soldiers who died as a result of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh. This was reported by Alina Nikoghosyan, the press secretary of the Minister of Health of Armenia, to Armenpress.
"As of now, forensic examinations have been conducted on 2996 bodies. For the organization of the process of identification and recognition of the bodies, a total of 1816 DNA samples have been taken from relatives since the beginning of the war, while 993 DNA samples have been taken from the bodies themselves," Nikoghosyan stated.
As of December 10, 256 samples from relatives and 541 samples from the bodies are in the examination phase. To date, 302 bodies have been identified as a result of genetic testing. The examinations and identifications are ongoing.
