Criminal Case Launched in Attempted Murder of Hayekonombank Executive Director

On December 8, 2020, from 19:00 to December 9, 08:45, an individual, in a manner dangerous to many lives, attempted to unlawfully take the life of the executive director of Hayekonombank CJSC. This person attached an explosive device under a parked LEXUS LX 570 vehicle belonging to the executive director in the yard of one of the buildings on V. Davtyan Street in Yerevan. The device exploded during the vehicle's operation on December 9, 2020, around 08:45. However, the crime was not completed as the executive director was not in the vehicle at the time.

According to the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, a criminal case has been initiated in the Arabkir investigative division of the Yerevan city investigative department under Article 34-104 (attempted murder) part 2, point 6, and Article 235 (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or carrying of weapons, military equipment, explosives or explosive devices) part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. An investigative group has been formed.

Investigative and procedural actions are being conducted to clarify all circumstances of the incident and to identify and discover the individual who allegedly committed the crime. A directive has been issued to the relevant division of the RA Police, and examinations have been appointed. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Notice: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia by a court decision that has entered into legal force.
