VIDEO: Brawl Occurs Near Voting Station
Today, parliamentary elections are taking place in Georgia. A brawl occurred near one of the voting stations in Marneuli. The conflict erupted between representatives of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party and the opposition "United National Movement." Both parties are considered favorites in the elections.
Citizens have the opportunity to choose from 50 electoral subjects, including 48 political parties and 2 alliances (blocks). In addition to parties, independent candidates are also participating in the elections.
Alik Media reports that since the start of the electoral day in Marneuli, there has been noise as per tradition. For instance, the election process was halted for a few minutes at one voting station after an observer from the "United National Movement" stated that they were not allowed to perform their duties, prompting the mobilization of law enforcement in the area.
At another voting station in the Marneuli district, a commission member mistakenly gave a voter 3 ballots instead of 2, and upon being discovered, claimed to have been confused.
The parliamentary elections are being held under a mixed electoral system of 120/30. Voters will receive 2 ballots, one of which they must mark for their preferred majoritarian candidate, and the other for the party.
