Three Women Injured by Azerbaijani Cluster Rocket Strike in Nngi Village: Artsakh Ombudsman

Three women were injured in a strike by an Azerbaijani cluster rocket in the village of Nngi. This information was reported by the Ombudsman of Artsakh.

According to the information received by the Artsakh Republic’s Human Rights Defender's Office, Azerbaijan continues to target peaceful settlements in Artsakh with rocket artillery. Verified information indicates that at noon, Azerbaijan shelled residential areas of Nngi village in the Martuni region using the cluster rocket artillery system known as ‘Smerch,’ where numerous civilians temporarily displaced from other communities had taken refuge.

As a result of the strike, three women were injured, one house was completely destroyed, and various levels of damage were inflicted on other buildings and infrastructures in the community. Considering that there are no military facilities in the vicinity of this community and that a prohibited cluster rocket with a wide area effect has been used in a densely populated area, it is evident that the Azerbaijani armed forces had a criminal intention to target the civilian population and facilities.

The Human Rights Defender appeals to the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate action to appropriately respond to and halt Azerbaijani atrocities against the people of Artsakh.
