Congresswoman Says Azerbaijan Launched Largest Attack Against Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict with Turkish Support
U.S. Congresswoman Susan Dilbey has joined the introduction of House Resolution 1165, condemning Azerbaijan's attack against the Armenian population of Artsakh with support from Turkey. According to the Armenian National Committee of America’s Facebook page, more than 100 legislators have signed on to the resolution.
“On September 27, Azerbaijan launched the largest attack against Armenia in the years of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, supported by Turkey. A number of global leaders have called for a cessation of hostilities, including U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. However, immediately after agreements were reached on a ceasefire, incidents of violations were recorded,” the congresswoman stated.
House Resolution 1165 condemns the military actions taken by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh and Turkey's involvement in them. “I share your concerns regarding the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and firmly believe that the United States has a moral obligation to work with the international community in supporting those affected by this disaster,” she added. The resolution is addressed to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, which will need to approve it.
