Zohrab Mnatsakanyan Holds Phone Conversation with CSTO Secretary General
On October 15, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a phone conversation with CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas. The main topic of the conversation was the situation created as a result of the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
Mnatsakanyan reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to implementing the joint statement of the foreign ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia made on October 10 regarding the cessation of hostilities and strengthening that regime, while expressing deep concern over Azerbaijan's failure to fulfill its own obligations and the targeting of peaceful settlements throughout Artsakh.
These aggressive actions by Azerbaijan are accompanied by numerous violations of international humanitarian and customary law norms, further emphasizing the priority of ensuring the existential security of the people of Artsakh—fully exercising and recognizing their right to live freely and safely in their historical homeland.
The minister particularly emphasized the unacceptability of provocative encroachments by Azerbaijani armed forces on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. Mnatsakanyan expressed deep concern regarding Turkey's expansionist policy of providing unconditional support to Azerbaijan by deploying international militant terrorists in the conflict zone, highlighting that Azerbaijan's irreversible tendency to become a center of international terrorism poses a threat to the CSTO responsibility area.
The head of Armenia's foreign policy agency stressed that the Armenian political leadership continuously assesses the military situation and the resulting steps, also considering the possibility of initiating CSTO regulatory processes.
The Minister informed the Secretary General that Armenia will continue to inform the Collective Security Treaty Organization and its member states about the created situation and the consequences of Azerbaijan's aggression.
