Peacekeepers Must Be Deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh, Says Sergey Lavrov
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has informed Baku and Yerevan that a meeting is necessary between the defense ministries to develop mechanisms for ceasefire verification. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Lavrov, the political settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh is possible and should proceed alongside the implementation of on-the-ground agreements. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized the need for the deployment of peacekeepers in the region. He also stated that, in Moscow's opinion, Russian observers should be present in Nagorno-Karabakh, but the final decision rests with the conflicting parties.
