Armenian Parliament of Artsakh Convenes Extraordinary Session
On October 13, the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh convened an extraordinary session under the leadership of Artur Tovmasyan.
Before commencing the session's work, the parliament honored the memory of those who fell victim in the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh since September 27 with a moment of silence.
The parliament discussed a draft law on making amendments to the “Defense” law, presented by the head of the government affairs management of the President's Office, Arayik Lazaryan. According to the reporter, the draft law is a response to the necessity of establishing and organizing a voluntary militia system.
According to the draft law, the concepts of “militia,” its objectives, structure, formation procedures, and the relationships related to the preparation and application of the militia in both peace and wartime, subordination and management, and recruitment of militia members are defined.
After receiving a positive conclusion from the National Assembly's permanent commission on defense, security, and law enforcement issues, the parliament unanimously adopted the law.
