VIDEO: Komitas' 'Crane' Resounds in Bombed Surb Amenaprkich Ghazanchetsots Church
A photo and video have been released online showing how Belgian-Armenian cellist Sevak Avanesyan plays Komitas' music in the bombed Surb Amenaprkich Ghazanchetsots Church in Shushi, addressing a deaf and indifferent world.
"I have come here to say that churches should not be bombed. I performed the music of our great composer Komitas here, who, having escaped the Genocide, was forced to leave his homeland. After that, he wrote 'Crane.' Unfortunately, I myself live outside of Armenia, and this music is very dear to me," he said.
