EU Calls for Adherence to Ceasefire Agreement: Statement by EU High Representative
The European Union welcomes the agreement reached on October 10 of this year regarding a humanitarian ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated in a press release by the EU High Representative.
The EU urges both parties to strictly adhere to the agreement reached and calls upon all stakeholders, including external parties, to refrain from any actions that could lead to further casualties.
In this regard, we express deep concern about reports of ongoing military operations, including attacks against civilian targets, as well as casualties among the civilian population. We urge the parties to ensure full respect for the agreement at the local level.
The EU calls on both sides to promptly return to substantive negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, without preconditions and on the basis of agreed principles.
The EU continues to support the work of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs in finding a political solution to the conflict through negotiations and will continue to exert efforts towards establishing sustainable peace in the region.
