Head of Nor Nork Police Department and Officers Arrested on Suspicion of Torturing Two Citizens Due to Women's Dispute

In connection with the alleged crime of torturing Vladimir Ohanyan and Armen Ghazaryan, three officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nor Nork Police Department have been arrested on suspicion of committing acts referred to in Article 309.1, Part 2, Points 1 and 4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. This arrest occurred on September 25, 2020, during the initiation of a criminal case prepared by the Special Investigative Service of Armenia.

On the same day, the head of the Nor Nork Police Department was also arrested on suspicion of committing a criminal act under Part 1 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. This information was reported by the Special Investigative Service.

According to the factual data obtained from the criminal case, officer T.A. from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nor Nork Police initiated the detention of Vladimir Ohanyan based on a personal dispute that occurred between his and Vladimir Ohanyan's wives, along with officers N.B. and G.M. Simultaneously, they detained Ohanyan's friend, Armen Ghazaryan, who had requested clarifications regarding the incident. Within the police station, the aforementioned officers physically assaulted Ohanyan for arguing with officer T.A.’s wife and Ghazaryan for allegedly swearing at them.

After the described incident, the head of the Nor Nork Police Department unnecessarily intervened in the internal investigation related to Ghazaryan's complaint, abusing his powers by taking illegal actions aimed at having him withdraw his complaint.

The pre-investigation continues regarding the criminal case.
