Yervand Khundkaryan Not Elected as President of the Constitutional Court
In a procedural session of the Constitutional Court, Yervand Khundkaryan, the only candidate proposed, did not receive the necessary votes to be elected as the president of the Constitutional Court during the secret voting. This was announced by Edgar Ghazaryan, the head of the Constitutional Court staff, on his Facebook page.
It is noteworthy that any of the nine judges of the Constitutional Court can be nominated for the position of president, either through self-nomination or by being proposed by their colleagues. If none of the candidates receive sufficient votes in the initial voting, a second round of elections is held within five days, involving the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round.
