VIDEO. Over 180 Million Drams Allocated from State Budget for 3000 Beneficiaries in Three Years: New Corruption Discovery
A new case of corruption has been uncovered, causing significant damage to the state. The Armenian police have issued a statement regarding this matter.
"Based on the prepared materials, factual data has been obtained indicating that officials from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, as well as heads of territorial divisions operating under the authority of local self-government bodies, collaborated with the administration of a charitable organization. Acting from group interests and using their official positions against the interests of their service, they violated the requirements set by a government decision, resulting in significant damage to the state.
From 2015 to 2018, in the framework of the program "Social Services for the Elderly and Disabled in Home Conditions and Day Care Centers," 200 million drams were allocated from the state budget each year for services provided to approximately four thousand individuals. In order to prevent reductions in the scope of the program, every year 900 to 1100 individuals whose data did not meet the established criteria were included in the program. As a result, over three years, an additional 180 million drams were allocated from the state budget due to these criminal acts, based on the accounting of a total of three thousand beneficiaries. A criminal case has been initiated in connection with these facts, and it has been submitted to the Investigative Committee for further investigation," the police report states.
